Seven Dragons for Seven Brothers: A Review of Seven Dragons

If Piet Mondrian had designed a card game, it would be Seven Dragons. It’s not his design, of course, it’s actually done by a fellow named Andrew Looney and the artist in question is Larry Elmore. Still, if you don’t think Mondrian while playing this game you didn’t go to enough Art History classes in college.

I was nervous going into this one, when I think Looney Labs I tend to think really slight and very silly games. For all I know the original implementation of this game, Aquarius, was much sillier, but Seven Dragons was not silly. It was understated and elegant. It looked beautiful.
